Save the Children Lithuania

A sister organization to Save the Children Sweden with 30 branches in many cities and regions of Lithuania. The organization works to make Lithuania suitable for children. 

Friends Across Borders is a project to put the spotlight on bullying. Organizations in the three Baltic countries Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania cooperates to combat the problem. Save the Children Sweden Europe Programme support creative competitions, education, information and therapeutic and professional support.


Save the Children Lithuania together with Ministry of Education and Science organized a conference in Vilnius about violence in schools the 19th November, 2010.

 

Save the Children Lithuania is running a three year project working with violence and degrading treatments in schools. They are supported by Save the Children Sweden and funded by Swedbank. Since the beginning of 2010 twelve schools have been chosen to become pilot schools to spread positive practices and create living examples of how to work with bullying in schools.

 

Representatives from the schools, teachers and children, representatives from Ministry of Education, the Child Rights Ombudsman, a psychologist and experts from Sweden were speaking for the 250 participants.

 

Vivi Havia, specialist working with degrading treatments and bullying in the municipality of Södertälje, Sweden and Stephan Andersson, headmaster at the school Diamanten in Norrköping, Sweden, shared the Swedish history of working with bullying in schools and provided concrete examples to the attentive audience.
