Centre for Social Policy Initiatives, Croatia

Separated children, children in institutions, children in foster family care, and their social and legal protection are the focus of The Centre for Social Policy Initiatives (CSPI).

In 2009 the government of Croatia is obliged to report on how they have followed the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). They report to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva. At the same time the coalition of child-focused non-governmental organizations called “The Coordination of Associations for Children” (CAC) intends to submit an alternative report on the implementation of child s rights.

Asking the children to help in collecting information on how the UNCRC is implemented is important to the Centre for Social Policy Initiatives. The information is used in the coalition’s alternative report. With the support of Save the Children Sweden Europe Programme the children will also learn how they can uphold their own rights and spread the information to others.
